Honouring Lives Lost: Preparing for the Day of Mourning
April 28 marks the National Day of Mourning, a time to honour and remember workers killed or injured on the job or suffered a work-related illness. Join the Government of Alberta's Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration along with the Workers' Compensation Board to reflect on workplace fatalities and discuss how to prevent further work-related injuries and deaths.

Each year WCB shares dedicated resources including digital and print-friendly materials to support workers, employers and all Albertans in recognizing this important day.




Rigging Resource Centre
Created as a result of a collaboration between Manufacturers' Health and Safety Association (MHSA) and Cranemasters, Rigging Resource Centre is a comprehensive online resource developed for anyone working in construction, fabrication or with the operation of cranes and rigging equipment.

Threads of Life
Threads of Life is a Canadian charity committed to supporting people affected by workplace injury, illness or death — and preventing future tragedies from occurring.


Alberta Video Series - Creative Sentencing
These 5 videos were created thanks to funding from a Creative Sentence in the province of Alberta, in response to the workplace death of Gregory Podulski. Greg was a journeyman welder who was killed in an explosion at work on November 12, 2022.
